2018 Helena Farmer's Market

Beginning on May 12, on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Private Stock Perennials & Produce will be at the Farmer's Market located on Fuller Avenue in downtown Helena.  My booth is near the Hill Park sign. Products offered will be:

May, June, and July

  • Potted lilies; nice selection of Asiatic and Orienpet lilies. All should bloom this season and then increase in beauty and numbers for years to come.
  • Potted daylilies; a selection of some of the best and most reliable varieties I've grown over the years
  • Fresh-cut asparagus, and freshly picked strawberries and haskap.  You will be amazed at how good veggies and fruit harvested in their prime taste!
  • Haskap/honeyberry plants in 1-, 2-, and 3-gallon pots
  • Delicious scones made fresh with berries from Private Stock Perennials as the Number 1 ingredient

September, and October

  • Freshly picked raspberries and strawberries
  • Bare root peonies; Fall is the best time to plant either and the most economical for you. A great selection of unique and collectible varieties will be available.
  • Haskap/honeyberry plants
  • Delicious scones made fresh with berries from Private Stock Perennials as the Number 1 ingredient

Planned Open Gardens

For the 2018 season, I plan to host two open gardens on approximately the following dates (be sure to stay tuned in June and July for exact times):

  • Peonies in Bloom -- Saturday and Sunday, June 23 and 24.  Come view peonies in bloom and reserve roots for fall delivery.  Lilies, daylilies, and honeyberries available for purchase as well.
  • Honeyberry/Haskap Day -- Saturday, July 14.  Learn all about this new superberry and see them in the production fields.  Sample them fresh and in scones and ice cream.  You may want to take home a few plants for your own garden!

Open Gardens

I plan to host an open gardens on a couple weekends this year for my peonies in bloom.  Usually the optimum viewing time is about mid- to late June.  This allows you the opportunity to see how most of the varieties I sell perform under field conditions. In addition, I will share information about the new and exciting fruits I am growing and my experimentation with growing wildflower and native grass strips between my crops.

Look for more details as the time approaches.

Also, be sure to view the Google map on the About tab to see how to find the nursery site.
